Chia-Yi Veterans Hospital (CIVH) has long been a hospital to take full responsibility in providing medical care of veterans and their family members for more than 40 years. It has become a healthcare provider of the Bureau of National Health Insurance since 1994. In July 2002, CIVH has been accredited as “Regional and Academic Hospital” by the Department of Health， Executive Yuan，R.O.C. and also as one of the most leading and prestigious hospitals here in Chia-Yi.
Nowadays, the hospital has been fully established in medical professions and expertise in : Neurology、Cardiology、Gastroenterology、Pulmonary medicine、Rheumatology、Immunology、Metabolism、Nephrology、General Surgery、Urology、Orthopaedics、Neurosurgery、Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery、Colorectal Surgery、Pediatrics、Obstertrics and Gynecology、Dentistry、Ophthalmology、Psychiatry、Family Medicine department、Emergency、Dermatology、Anesthesiology、Rehabilitation、Radiology、Clinical and anatomical、Pathology、Traditional Medicine department。 ESWL（Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy）Center、Respiratory Care Unit、the dialysis center and the Cardiac Cathelerization Room. The new medical and surgical intensive care units(48 beds), as well as 15 units of operation rooms are the brand-new and most advanced facilities。 In order to offer a convenient medical service for the people live in the downtown of Chia-Yi City，the hospital has a clinic branch in downtown from daytime to night。
The hospital has 574 beds for inpatients including the acute、chronic、psychiatric and the special beds (ICU、baby、observation bed in ER, etc..) and respiratory ward. We have more than 60 physicians、190 nurses、70 pharmacists、55 technicians and 60 administrative personnel. All the attending physicians are trained in several medical centers and awarded one or more specialist board. All nurses and technicians are well-trained also. All personnels of medical profession in our hospital should attend their continuing education programs. The above well-experienced medical personnel、good facilities and equipments under super organization make our hospital in high standard level of medical care.
The services of our hospital contains the following departments or units : The Outpatient patient department、Emergency unit、Inpatient department units(Acute vs. chronic), Nursing care unit and Physical check-up unit。
